LINE-UP:

RADIOHIRO & MC ZULU

(Hookahdome/Freakeasy - Chicago) - www.radiohiro.com / www.mczulu.com/

A lifelong musician and DJ, RADIOHIRO is rewriting the sound of London's "Asian Underground" style with a tough new incarnation called "Asian Massive". His sound can be best described as bass induced breakbeats, u.k. grime, and dubstep combined with lush classical Indian and bollywood mixtures. A trained drummer since the age of 4, Radiohiro was exposed to East Indian music thru his Jazz training. He credits guitarist John McLaughlin's 'Shakti' records which featured Master South Indian Violinist, L. Shankar and tabla maestro Zakir Hussain.  An extremist, he then spent 10 years producing and recording East Indian Hindustani music performed by the world's top masters.

BBC Radio has playlisted 15 differen't songs of his over the past 3 years, 3 of them reaching number one on BBC Radio 1.  This year, Radiohiro has contributed his song "Junta" to the soundtrack for the Movie "Ashes", a film directed and produced by Ajai Naidu and scored by Karsh Kale and The Midival Punditz.  Radiohiro has been playing at the Burningman Festival for the past 14 years straight.  His debut album "110/220" is being released at the end of this year and features MC Zulu, Karsh Kale, and several Hindustani classical artists.

MC ZULU's sound is a non-traditional mix of Dancehall-styled chatting, often punctuated with lush harmonies. He displays an almost twisted sense of rhythmic structure, and some of the most poignant songwriting in the genre.

The experimental approach Zulu has taken towards music is evident in the assortment of tracks over which his voice can be heard. He has released music for Universal, Warner, EMI, NinjaTune and also a host of independent labels. He is often cited in the press as being one of the pioneers of a new, Reggae-influenced variety of Electronica.

No stranger to the world stage, MC Zulu has delighted crowds across the globe, making his presence known in places such as Australia, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Much of his material with DJ Radiohiro was debuted at 2010's Burning Man, and is slated for an early 2011 release.

DULCE VITA

(Opulent Temple – San Francisco) – www.dulcevita.dj

Enter Dulce Vita (pronounced dol-sie/vee-tah). As a DJ performer in San Francisco, the North American capital of electronic dance music, how does DV stand out? Along with a highly-acclaimed ability for solid track selection, true individuality happens here as a result of a musical risk. With a signature brand of aggressive intent, she performs a sound all her own - an energetically urban soundscape, infused with audible hints of Nu Skool Breaks, Big Beat, Chunky Electro, Filtered Disco, World Beats, Dubstep, Glitch-Hop, Downtempo and IDM.

In recent past, Dulce was named WINNER of SF Weekly: City of Spin 2009 (Annual DJ Competition) and her performance at Burning Man earned a prestigious mention in international publication 'DJ Mag' - within the 2008 issue featuring Top 100. Since her debut performance at Google headquarters in 2004, you might have already experienced her audio collage of eclectic tracks at underground warehouse venues or major nightclubs such as Ruby Skye, The End-Up, 1015, Supper Club, Mighty, Mezzanine, Kelly's Mission Rock, DNA Lounge, Temple, Club 6, Paradise Lounge, 550 Barneveld, Shine, Anu, Whisper, etc. Dulce considers any single performance a personal success if she can make a deeply positive impact on at least one person's experience.

Dulce Vita booked nearly 100 performances as a DJ in 2009. Based on witnessed live performance, she has received personal accolades direct from personal heroes like Micky Finn, DJ Dan, Soul of Man, Meat Katie, Josh Gabriel, Dave Dresden, Slyde, and Reid Speed. In addition to sharing the bill with those headliners, she has been proud to play alongside greats such as: Ozomatli, Carl Cox, Stanton Warriors, Uberzone, Bassnectar, Freq Nasty, Dieselboy, Aquasky, Lee Coombs, Dylan Rhymes, Rennie Pilgrem, Elite Force, Wolfgang Gartner, Far Too Loud, Fort Knox Five, The Rogue Element, Hyper, Orbital, Rabbit in the Moon, Dubtribe Sound System, Bass Kleph, Nick Thayer, Gabriel & Dresden, Jen Lasher, Shortee, Mephisto Odyssey, Ali B, Coburn, Steve Lawler, Scumfrog, D:Fuse, Scarlett Etienne, Hatiras, Fixx, Myagi, Cheb i Sabbah, Random Rab, David Starfire, Vibesquad, Ana Sia, Beats Antique, Ill-Esha, Eskmo, Dov, Marty Party, Eprom, An-ten-nae, Love and Light - as well as a countless number of talented local jocks.

Dulce has held numerous prior residencies at night clubs as a DJ all over San Francisco. In 2006, she was proud to be selected as the first female to be affiliated with 'OPULENT TEMPLE' (the infamous large-scale sound camp at Burning Man featuring global talent on 150,000 watts). In 2009, she was invited to wobble out with 'CALIFORNIA DUBSTEP REPUBLIC', a collective of performers who provided the first ever Dubstep float in San Francisco's equivalent of a large scale EDM festival like Love Parade. That year also debuted her solo event production alias, under the apt pseudonym: 'DVANT GARDE'. DV created a new breed of Summer Seasonal event (known as 'Womper Womb') showcasing dubstep, glitch, and breaks with all female DJ talent from Burning Man. In 2010, she gained a new monthly residency with 'BELOW ZERO', featuring downtempo, chillout, trip-hop, and IDM.

Dulce has also provided A&R representation in past at Winter Music Conference in Miami for two uprising labels, Mizumo Music (tech, filtered disco, and electro house) and Funky Cactus Recordings (big beat and nu skool breaks). She has enjoyed past sponsorship by friends at local urban clothing companies, 'LiveLife Culture' and 'Discharge Clothing'. Along the way, Dulce has been educated at institutions like UCLA, Santa Clara University, Oxford University, and Mills College - holding an undergraduate degree in Philosophy (2002) and a Masters degree in Business Administration (2008). Her actual birth name is Dulce Vita.

JORO BORO

(Urban Cabaret - NYC) - www.joro-boro.org/

Former resident of the legendary Mehanata Bulgarian Bar in New York, Joro-Boro plays and promotes etnoteck - the dirty and uninhibited side of globalization as a forced feed back into a party without borders, a three-day Balkan wedding in a post-national state where noise, bass and desire detonate the conglomerate monoculture. He is a monthly host of MoGlo (Modern Global) on Radio New York, has toured with Balkan Beat Box, and has performed with artists ranging from Bassnectar to Tinariwen.

Joro-Boro is not an artist / charlatan / mythologist. Joro De Boro could be just the opposite.

ART & INSTALLATIONS:

EDWIN BETHEA  – http://www.edwinbethea.com/

Edwin Bethea was born in Philadelphia P.A. At a very young age he was a creator.  Scribbles and Mother’s Day cards soon became live models, still lifes, and constructions. After many extra
curricular courses, contests, events, and exploration of materials, Edwin enrolled at the Maryland Institute College of Art under a presidential scholarship. The completion of his BFA sparked
a sense of curiosity in what existed outside the confines of one’s habitat. He traveled throughout the countryside meeting, interacting, and internalizing a country that is composed of
millions of microcosms. These travels spawned into an everlasting voyage of experience and interpretation. Graduate studies and Drawing 1 course instruction at Arizona State University
was his last stop before his New York and Los Angeles residencies, where he now produces. What began as popsicle stick houses, and cartoon duplications in Philadelphia are now hundreds
of hours invested in the development of large-scale paintings churning out of Brooklyn, and Los Angeles. His recent works are a mastery of the past, interpretation of the present and an
anticipation of the future.

LACEY FEKISHAZY  -  http://www.laceyfekishazy.com/

Lacey Fekishazy was raised in Newburgh, New York. Her most recent exhibitions include group shows at Possible Projects in Brooklyn and at Dorsky Gallery in Long Island City. In 2010 she
completed her MFA in Studio Art from Queens College CUNY, a productive time during which she exhibited around New York - The Puffin Room; Gallery 151; Dorsky Gallery. Lacey is employed
as a draughtsman/ installer for Sol Lewitt. Prior to this she brought her knowledge of art and upstate New York to Dia:Beacon’s Visitor Services Department. She received an AAS degree from
the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2001 before finishing her BFA in Painting at SUNY New Paltz in 2003. She lives and works in Queens and Brooklyn, respectively.

Lacey's materials are comprised mostly of cast-offs, discarded material from manufacturing. Her work is decidedly minimal and sensual. When looking at her work I think of an ethos of art
production informed by her employment as installer of the work of Sol Lewitt. Lacey is interested in process in a literal sense- she uses the materials of production. What is behind the scenes
is carried forward through the use of materials such as stretcher bars, sawhorses, tape, glue, paint rollers. Discarded bits are transformed in a way that evokes their material loveliness and
also oddness. She also retains the happenstance of process- pieces may be propped, tacked and dangling. The hierarchy required to set it apart from preexisting structures is maintained by a
material lusciousness. The work is also economical and poetic- the backside of a painting is the basis for multiple studies. (text by Daina Higgins)
